Summary
Recording of lecture given by poet Archibald MacLeish on October 14, 1966, at the third annual Humanities Series at SMTI (Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, now University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth). SMTI president Joseph L. Driscoll welcomes the audience, thanks the series organizers, and explains how the speakers' series came into existence. He 
introduces Professor Jagdish Mehra of the SMTI Department of Physics. Professor Mehra describes the background, qualifications, and awards of the current speaker, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Archibald MacLeish. Mr. MacLeish tells stories and reads poems, giving context or an explanation of each. These include Robert Herrick's "To Daffodils" and 16 of MacLeish's own poems.
