Summary
Patricia Gras discusses minority-owned and women-owned business being pitted against each other for city contracts in Houston with Helen Hodges, President of the Houston Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and James Robinson, Chief Executive Officer of the Minority Contractors Alliance. Includes report on the difficulties women have had as business owners, and the response of some minority communities who do not feel white women are a true minority. Second segment addresses issues in the Texas education system and people who are making it work in spite of this. Gras interviews Marilyn Wilhelm, founder of the Whilhelm Scholê, and Thaddeus Lott, Principal of Wesley Elementary School. Includes report on the Wilhelm Scholê in Houston.
